Statement of Faith

This Statement of Faith summarizes the biblical convictions that guide the teachings, resources, and mission of There Is A Scripture For That.
This is a concise summary rather than an exhaustive explanation of every biblical doctrine. Scripture is the final written authority for all beliefs and teachings presented here.
The Holy Bible
We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God.
Scripture reveals who God is, teaches the truth about salvation through Jesus Christ, and provides doctrine, correction, instruction, wisdom, and guidance for faithful living.
Scripture is the final written authority for faith, belief, life, teaching, and practice.

The Godhead
We believe in one God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—three distinct, eternal, divine Persons united in nature, character, purpose, and love.

God the Father is Creator, Sustainer, Lawgiver, Provider, and rightful authority.
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, Savior, Lord, and perfect revelation of the Father.
The Holy Spirit teaches, convicts, comforts, transforms, and guides believers in truth in harmony with God’s Word.

Creation and Humanity
We believe God created the heavens, the earth, and humanity in six days according to the biblical account of Creation and rested on the seventh day.

Human beings were created in God’s image and for relationship with Him, but sin brought separation, suffering, and death into the world.
— Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23
Humanity cannot overcome sin or restore itself to God through personal effort, religious performance, or good works.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is fully divine and became fully human.
He lived without sin, revealed the character of the Father, died for our sins, rose from the dead, ministers as our High Priest in the heavenly sanctuary, and will return in glory.

Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus Christ provides forgiveness, reconciliation, redemption, and eternal life.
Salvation
We believe salvation is God’s gift of grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ—not earned through works, religious performance, or obedience.

Through Christ’s atoning sacrifice, those who repent and believe are forgiven, reconciled to God, and made new.

Obedience does not earn salvation or God’s acceptance.
Obedience flows from redemption as a response of faith and love to Christ.

Repentance and New Life
We believe repentance is more than feeling sorry for sin.
It is responding to the Holy Spirit’s conviction by confessing sin, turning away from it, and returning to God under His authority.

God meets the repentant sinner with mercy and grace. Through Christ, He forgives, restores, and teaches believers to walk in newness of life and loving obedience to His Word.

The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is fully divine and actively works in the lives of believers.
The Holy Spirit:

The Holy Spirit never leads contrary to God’s written Word.
Obedience and Discipleship
We believe a living relationship with God bears fruit in loving obedience.
Discipleship is a daily walk of following Christ through surrender, trust, repentance, Scripture, prayer, and obedience under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Obedience is not self-powered perfectionism.
It is the continuing response of a redeemed life learning to trust, love, and follow God faithfully.
The Ten Commandments
We believe God’s moral law expresses His character and teaches love for God and love for others.

The commandments do not provide salvation. Salvation is found only in Jesus Christ.
Believers obey God’s commandments as a response of love, faith, and loyalty to Him.

The Seventh-Day Sabbath
We believe the seventh-day Sabbath was established and blessed by God at Creation, included in the Ten Commandments, and honored by Jesus Christ.
It is observed from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset, following the biblical pattern of sacred time beginning and ending at evening.

The Sabbath is God’s set-apart gift of rest, worship, relationship, remembrance, and trust in His provision and authority.
It reminds us that God is Creator and Sustainer, that we belong to Him, and that our lives are not sustained by endless human striving.

Prayer and Relationship with God
We believe believers are invited into a living relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ.
Through Scripture, God speaks with authority, revealing His truth and teaching us how to walk with Him.
Through prayer, we respond to Him with worship, gratitude, confession, trust, honest communion, and dependence.

Relationship with God is nurtured as believers remain in His Word, pray faithfully, trust Christ, and follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Biblical Renewal, Rest, and Stewardship
We believe God renews the mind, brings truth and care to the inner life, and teaches believers to live under His wisdom and authority.

Biblical rest is not escape, passivity, or freedom from responsibility. It is trusting God instead of living from fear, control, and self-powered striving.

We believe God is the Owner and Giver of all things. Believers are called to faithfully steward what He has entrusted to them, including their time, bodies, abilities, relationships, responsibilities, work, homes, and resources.

The Church and Biblical Community
We believe all who belong to Christ are called to fellowship, worship, prayer, service, encouragement, accountability, and faithful participation in the life of the church.

Biblical community is governed by God’s Word and characterized by truth, love, humility, discernment, service, and obedience.
Churches, teachers, ministries, and other believers can provide meaningful instruction and support, but they do not replace each believer’s personal responsibility to know Scripture and walk faithfully with God.
Christian Witness and Service
We believe followers of Christ are called to reflect His character, serve others in love, share the gospel, and help others know and follow Him.

Christian service is not self-promotion or a means of earning acceptance from God.
It is the fruit of a life redeemed by Christ and surrendered to His purpose.
The Second Coming and Eternal Restoration
We believe Jesus Christ will return personally, visibly, and gloriously.

We believe the dead are unconscious in death and rest until the resurrection.
At Christ’s return, the dead in Christ will be raised, and His people who are alive will be gathered with them to meet the Lord.

Christ will judge righteously and will bring His reward with Him.
— John 5:22–29; Revelation 22:12
We believe sin, suffering, and death will not continue forever.
God will make all things new, and His redeemed people will live eternally with Him in a restored creation.
